It was good to be back at school today.

Choice time:  Table top easels, playdough, and a "garbage game" with small bath poufs was offerred.

Story time: "We Are A Team" was read.  I read it the first time through and the children tried to read along the second time.

Snack:  On Wednesday, both Chloe and Evan brought snack due to being out of school for the previous bad weather days.  Pretzels, cheese and juice was served.  Thank you both Chloe and Evan!

On Thursday Sydney and Elliott brought snack.  Pretzels and cheese crackers were served along with juice.  Thank you Sydney and Elliott!

Free time:  Finger painting was given as an option at the art center.

Reminder:  Calendars and tuition envelopes went home in the backpacks. Also, Bring A Grown Up to School Day for the Thursday class was rescheduled to February 27th.  Let's hope the weather will cooperate.

Have a great weekend!

It's Cold Outside

We were glad to see the children bundled up today.  It still is winter outside.

Choice Time:  The children were given a chance to choose between table top easels, catch-a-ball cones and bubble wrap.  Mrs. Whiteman taped a long strip of bubble wrap on the table and on the floor and the children enjoyed popping it with their fingers and feet.

Circle Time:  We read the story "I Love You, Blue Kangaroo".  It was about a girl and her favorite stuffed animal that she liked to take with her everywhere.  Afterwards, each child was given a chance to tell us about their favorite stuffed animal.  We also tried a new activity song called "Circle Time".  We had to hold hands and follow the directions.

Snack:  Bryson brought rainbow Goldfish and juice.  Thank you.

Free Play:  The children were given an opportunity to paint with balls at the easels.  All of the balls had different textures on them.  The Magic Nuudles were also out.  We rang the gong early and encouraged them to clean up quickly so that we could play a quick game of Hide 'N Seek.  What a fun way to end the day.

Remember that Bring a Grown-Up to School Day is Thursday.  We hope that every child will have a special adult with them to share all of the fun activities.

Pajama Day!

Today was Pajama Day and it was a lot of fun.  We started the morning off with a pajama 'style' show.  We had Hello Kitty, Dora, pandas, dinosaurs, robots, Mario and Spiderman just to name a few.  Some of the children even+ wore cute slippers.

Choice Time:  The children were given the choice to play forts and flashlights, use the tumbling mat or use the markers and table top easels.  Most of them chose the forts and flashlights.

Circle Time:  We read the story "The Napping House".  It had felt figures to go along with the story which kept every one's attention.  We also sang the song "5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed".

Snack Time:  Priyanshi brought juice and bananas which were also supplemented with a graham cracker.  Thank you.

Free Time:  The art table was used to paint with a big fluffy marshmallow which kind of seemed like a pillow in honor of pajama day.  14 out of 16 children chose to do the art project so it was a favorite!

Please remember:
     1.  No School on Monday due to Martin Luther King Day
     2.  Bring a Grownup to School Day is scheduled for next Wednesday and Thursday.  (A note
went home explaining about the events of the day.)

Thanks to all of our parents for helping your children to participate in Pajama Day!  We couldn't have done it without your support!

A January Thaw

It's nice to have warmer temps and see some of our snow melt away.  The sunshine always lifts our spirits.

Choice Time:  The children were offered the marble run, table top easels and shaving cream with brushes.  Mrs. Whiteman squirted some shaving cream on the table and gave each child a brush.  Then they 'painted' the table.  Most children did a little bit of everything, which was great.

Circle Time:  We read the story "I Went Walking".  This is a simple book that repeats short sentences on every page.  The children listened to the story once and were then given an opportunity to try to 'read' along with the teacher as she read through it a second time.

Snack Time:  The children were given an opportunity to peel their own Clementines today.  It took them a while, but they were very proud (and sometimes surprised) that they could do it by themselves.  Milk was our drink.

Free Play:  During this time the children were given a chance to make a sculpture out of Magic Nuudles.  They look similar to packing peanuts but are colored and made out of corn!  When dampened they stick to each other.  We were able to build quickly without tape or glue.

Two notes went home today.  One was regarding Pajama Day and the other was a list of items needed here at the preschool.  Please read these carefully and call if there are any questions.

Happy New Year

We are glad to be back at preschool again!  We hope that everyone had a nice Winter Break.

Choice Time:  Table top easels, Play Doh and cars and tracks were offered.

Circle Time:  We read the book "The Wheels on the Bus".  It was a sound book and after the story was read each child was given the opportunity to press one of the buttons to make a sound like wheels, wipers or horn.  We also sang the song "The Wheels on the Bus".

Snack Time:  Our snack was cheese and crackers.  Thank you, Marley.  On Thursday, our snack was BelVita crackers.  Thank you, Olive.

Free Play:  The children were given an opportunity to paint at the easels and marble paint.  We had a lot of participation.

Notes went home regarding registration today.  If you are interested in returning to Redeemer Preschool for the Kindergarten Readiness (4 yr. old) Class, please read the note carefully.
